May 2025
The 2025 Democratic Education Summer School celebrated its second edition at the University of Westminster, bringing together over 25 students from four different countries. Throughout the program, we explored how democratic values can transform education, amplify student voices, and address global inequalities. Through engaging interactive sessions, participants investigated topics such as democratic pedagogies, migration and belonging, student agency, and the impact of media and misinformation on democratic life.
Our learning extended beyond the classroom: we visited the UK Parliament, walked through East London to examine issues of migration and gentrification, and engaged in discussions about colonial legacies. In diverse teams, students collaboratively designed practical projects that addressed real-world educational challenges, fostering leadership skills, enhancing critical thinking, and encouraging cross-cultural collaboration that they could carry forward into their studies and communities.
