International Field Trips
International Field Trips are a vital part of student engagement
International field trips at DEN are not simply educational visits—they are field-based learning environments where students critically engage with global issues, develop research, and transform experience into publications and conference contributions.
They provide transformative opportunities for students to connect their academic learning with lived experience, while linking directly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These trips empower students to grow as global citizens and future leaders.
Field Trip → Reflection → Research → Publication → Conference → Impact
Why international field trips matter:
- Cultural understanding – By being immersed in another country, students experience diverse ways of life, broadening their perspectives and supporting SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) through intercultural dialogue.
- Communication & collaboration – Working closely with peers and partners for several days strengthens teamwork and communication, skills essential for both personal growth and professional life.
- Career awareness – Visits to international institutions and industries expose students to new career pathways, enhancing employability and aligning with SDG 4 (Quality Education).
- Personal growth & confidence – Field trips challenge students to adapt, reflect, and discover their own resilience, helping them build confidence as engaged global citizens.
- Innovative learning models – DEN combines field trips with synchronous and asynchronous online learning, using co-mentoring and co-creation between students and staff to deepen the experience and connect it back to the classroom.
Through these experiences, students link their reflections and research to broader global challenges—particularly SDG 16 (Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)—showing how education connects to local and global change.
